our story

Maison Morimi is a Swiss house based in the canton of Vaud, founded by Laurent Pavia, a Swiss passionate about Japanese culture, and Morimi Kobayashi, a Japanese woman deeply attached to the culture of Japanese tea.

Maison Morimi

our story

At the age of eighteen, I was introduced to the tea ceremony in Tokyo. Since then, I have never ceased to be touched by the serenity of a bowl of tea, by the beauty of the seasons reflected in this art, and by those suspended moments it offers.

A few years later, during my studies in Paris, a conviction imposed itself on me: Japan has an exceptional culture that deserves to be shared with the world. It was then that my wish was born to dedicate my life to transmitting this cultural wealth beyond Japanese borders.

This vocation led me to teach Japanese tea and sake for over ten years as a visiting professor at the University of Gastronomic Sciences (UNISG) in Italy. I had the privilege of sharing with students from around the world the Japanese culinary culture, its aesthetics, and the philosophy that accompanies it. It is in the natural continuation of this journey that Maison Morimi, in Switzerland.

For many years, I have been regularly visiting production areas across Japan. Through meetings with producers and artisans, bonds of trust have been woven. Each creation we offer is chosen with care, because it reflects the soul of a terroir, the know-how of an artisan, and a story that we are eager to share.

Maison Morimi is a meeting place between Japan and Europe. Through exceptional organic teas, handcrafted items, and cultural experiences, we wish to keep a precious heritage alive.

The know-how of the hands that create.
The wisdom passed down from generation to generation.
And this Japanese culture shaped over the centuries.
We hope to contribute, humbly, to ensuring that this heritage continues to live on and inspire future generations.

We share the Japanese way of life.
Moments that nourish the heart.
A life in harmony with nature.

the Japanese way of life

for us, a beautiful way of life is not measured by material abundance, but by the richness of moments that nourish the spirit: a moment of calm and relaxation, a connection with nature, the presence of objects that carry soul and human warmth.

an exceptional tea from organic farms.
a moment of tea to reconnect with nature and oneself.
workshops that awaken the senses.
everyday objects shaped by expert hands.
from Japan to Switzerland, then to Europe.
with the know-how, history, and passion of those who create them.

this is what maison morimi wishes to share..

our selection of teas

to select our teas, sourced from committed producers and know-how passed down through generations, we go directly on site. we meet the producers, walk through the plantations and take the time to understand their story, their philosophy and their way of working.

each tea we offer is the result of a meeting

because matcha is consumed in its entirety and tea is directly extracted from the leaves, we place essential importance on the quality of the cultivation, the purity of the ingredients and respect for nature.

that is why we have chosen to offer exclusively organic teas, carefully cultivated by producers who share our demand for quality and our respect for life.

for us, preserving this know-how, supporting producers and valuing the link between man, the earth and nature is just as important as the quality of the tea itself.
